We offer weekly mentoring and language assistance sessions aimed specifically at helping students of Latin and Ancient Greek improve their skills. Click here for more information.

Conuiuium Latinum

Conversational Latin

Semester 1: 4 Sessions; Thursday 1-2pm at Wordsmith Cafe on March 9, March 30, April 20, and May 11.

Tired of your friends saying Latin is a dead language? Come and speak some conversational Latin at Conuiuium Latinum! Learn some conversational Latin from some of your classics peers in a relaxed 1 hour Face to Face session. A basic knowledge of Latin (gained from completion of LATN1100 or an equivalent Beginner Latin course) is expected so that you get the most out of the program. And remember, lingua Anglica eat lingua barbarica!

Critical Dialogues

Ancient Text & Topic Discussion Group

Semester 1: 3 Sessions; Tuesday 5-6:30pm at Michie Building 9, Room 536 on March 7, March 28, and April 18.

We hold a fortnightly reading group for participants to develop their understanding and analysis of ancient texts, and to gain different perspectives as to select texts and topics, explored via group discussion. A new and exciting range of topics is offered in each 1.5 hour session, including the mythological and supernatural, to medicine, geography, politics, and war, through to literature – there is always something thrilling to explore!

A casual session for people interested in discussing ancient topics of interest.
